Ozonated Oil - Natural Remedies for Insect Bites and Stings

Nothing quite takes the fun out of a backyard barbeque as much as an insect invasion. For the most part, these creepy-crawly or flying critters pose a minor annoyance, but sometimes their bites or stings can cause severe allergic reactions, infections, or diseases such as West Nile virus or Lyme disease.
The best way to avoid bites and stings is, of course, to minimize contact with insects. Simple steps, such as wearing light-colored, long-sleeved clothing and using insect repellents when insect exposure is likely, help to reduce the likelihood of insect bites or stings.
Homeowners can also take precautions such as removing sources of stagnant water and clearing back brush.
If you are bitten or stung by an insect, it is helpful to be familiar with basic first aid. Certain precautions, like cleaning the bite area or removing the stinger, should be taken immediately to reduce the risk of infection. If an allergic reaction occurs, it is vital to seek immediate medical attention.
Two tiny pests from the past that have re-emerged to become big problems in recent years are bed bugs and head lice. Travelers can pick up bed bugs in hotels and even on cruise ships. College students can bring them home from their dormitories. Once they infest a home, it is very difficult to get rid of them. Although they are not known to transmit diseases as some other insects do, bed bug bites do itch. Head lice infestations often occur at the beginning of the school year. It is important to remember that the presence of bed bugs or head lice does not indicate a lack of hygiene.
